EastEnders bosses have confirmed Hunter Owen did not shoot himself.
The killer was seen holding a gun up to his face as a gunshot sound was heard on Friday night.
Now with the actor's exit being confirmed, soap fans thought he may have taken his own life at the end of Friday night's episode.
He was seen caressing the gun he used to shoot Ray.
And when a disturbed Mel accidentally smashed a glass in the kitchen, the sound of a gunshot rang out just as Hunter held the gun up to his face.

Fans took to Twitter to share their concerns Hunter had shot himself.
However soap bosses have been forced to step in and clarify what actually happened.
They have confirmed Hunter did not shoot himself in the episode and that the gunshot sound was in Mel's mind and not in reality.
According to Digital Spy bosses confirmed the noise was simply a vivid flashback for Mel as she struggles with what her son did.
And instead of being dead or injured by the gunshot, Hunter will feature in the show next week as he is arrested by police for some reason.
Actor Charlie Winter will soon bow out of the soap after bosses decided to axe the character just a year after he was introduced.
An EastEnders spokesman confirmed: "We can confirm Charlie Winter is leaving and wish him all the best for the future."
An insider added: "Bosses are staying tight lipped on exactly how Hunter exits Walford, but after he shot Ray dead at New Year, it promises to be dramatic.
"Hunter will be on our screens for a while yet and there is still a lot more drama to come as he and his mum are faced with the fallout of his actions."
