EastEnders fans want troublemaker Cora Cross to return to Walford

Would she help or hinder Rainie's recovery?

Troublemaker Cora Cross hasn’t been seen in Walford since last year, and EastEnders fans have decided they want her back.

But with Rainie currently battling an addiction to painkillers, it’s anyone’s guess whether Cora would help her daughter or make her worse!

The mother of both Rainie and the long-absent Tanya, Cora was last seen in Albert Square in November 2018 when she tried to fight for custody of her great-granddaughter Abi.

Cora, played by Ann Mitchell, believed that baby Abi would be better off living with her as she doesn’t trust Max and blames him for the death of the original Abi.

Viewers know that Abi and Lauren both fell from the roof of The Vic after climbing up to stop their dad jumping to his death.

Although they managed to convince him to come down, Abi slipped, grabbing Lauren and pulling her down too.

Abi was declared brainstem dead after the accident on Christmas Day 2017, but her unborn baby was saved, being born prematurely on December 29 by c-section.

Cora tried to bribe Rainie into ditching Max and helping her and Tanya get custody of Abi.

In shocking scenes that aired in November, Cora attacked her own daughter Rainie with a frying pan, knocking her unconscious to the floor.

Now fans want her back to cause more mischief for the residents of the Square.

Writing on Digital Spy Forums, one said: “I do hope Cora returns, but it’s looking bleak at the moment.”

Another said: “Rainie is currently there, but where is Cora? Ann Mitchell is soon to be making a film in Spain so any EastEnders return won’t happen until next year.”

A third went a step further, demanding Tanya come back too.

They said: “I would also bring Tanya back. Tanya can have serious scenes and Rainie too. It would also give Max some storylines. At the moment Max has become a glorified extra.”

Over on EastEnders spoilers, news and gossip Facebook group, another fan wrote: “I think Cora should come back and knock Rainie into line then take Abi to Tanya’s.”

“What’s happened to Cora?” asked another.

Cora first appeared in the BBC soap in 2011, before leaving in 2015 and returning sporadically since then.
