EastEnders viewers have unpopular prediction for Bobby Beale

He is due to be released from prison in June

EastEnders viewers have predicted characters which could be recast and one of the most popular ones is Bobby Beale.

On a Digital Spy forum, a user started the thread by posting: “Recasts are inevitable, they are part of the changing nature of soaps and sometimes have to be done.

“EastEnders is known for its recasts, with recent ones including Ben, Johnny, Belinda and the legacy characters Michelle (what were they thinking?) and Martin.

“Who do you see being recast, due to the actor not being able to return etc, that would work due to them not being ‘iconic’ enough?

“I can see recasts for: Nancy Carter (however, Maddy Hill hasn’t ruled out a return).

“Johnny Carter (Ted Reilly was not a good actor and Sam Strike is doing exceptionally well in Hollywood). Vicki Fowler…

“And something else: Peter Beale – if Ben Hardy doesn’t return I’d like them to do a Sam Mitchell and have Thomas Law back in the role.” [sic]

Many users were quick to jump in with their thoughts.

One user put: “It’s probably going to be Bobby.” [sic]

Another wrote: “Possibly Bobby, although I hope Elliott returns” [sic]

A third put: “Bobby and Peter Beale are the first two who spring to mind.”

However, viewers have said they would like to see Eliot Carrington, who played Bobby from 2014-2017, return to the role.

Adding to the thread a user wrote: “Last month Ian showed Mel a photo of Bobby and it was a new picture of the actor so I think they may keep him.”

A user added to that: “I hope so, I thought that kid did fine with what he was given considering his age.”

Another user agreed: “I liked Elliot and hope they do keep him, for a young un he carried the material well and was genuinely menacing at the end.” [sic]

Another added: “Yes I liked him too.”

Although his return hasn’t been confirmed, Bobby’s release date from prison was confirmed in the soap last month as 15th June 2019.

Lucy Beale, played by Hetti Bywater, was killed off in 2014 in one of the soaps biggest ‘whodunnit’ storylines.

Some 10 months after she was killed, it was revealed in a flashback that Lucy’s half-brother, 10-year-old Bobby, was the one who killed her by hitting her over the head with a jewellery box.

After Bobby killed Lucy, his adoptive mum Jane moved her body, which was then discovered by a little girl.

Bobby went on to attack Jane in 2016 by hitting her in the head and legs with a hockey stick. She nearly died as a result of her injuries.

Bobby pleaded guilty to the attack of Jane and unlawful killing of Lucy and was sentenced to three years in prison.
