EastEnders fans fed up with Ben Mitchell’s new personality and want Harry Reid back in the role

Max Bowden took over the role last month

Fans of EastEnders are fed up with Ben Mitchell’s personality change and have stated they would like to see Harry Reid return as the character.

Ben Mitchell returned to Albert Square last month after just over a year away.

Former Waterloo Road actor Max Bowden has taken over the role from Harry Reid, who played Ben from 2014-2018.

Not only did Ben return with a new face, but he appears to have returned with a new personality.

Ben made it clear to Lola when they returned that the plan was to take Phil’s money. However, he soon discovered Phil had no money and the new plan would be that Ben and Phil built up the business again and, when he could, he would take the money and his happiness. Dark!

In his short time back on Albert Square he has already tried to get into business with gangster Danny but when he refused Ben stupidly threatened him and his family, which resulted in his half-sister Louise being kidnapped.

Last night (May 6) Ben really showed an evil side when he attacked Rainie.

Viewers are fed up with Ben’s behaviour and have begged Harry to come back.

Despite Ben returning with a more evil personality, before Max took over the role, the character had lost his temper more than once.

Back in 2012, when Ben was played by Joshua Pascoe, he killed Heather Trott by hitting her over the head with a photo frame.

Then in 2016, after Louise wound Ben up about his girlfriend Abi faking a pregnancy and miscarriage, he dunked Louise’s head down the toilet and publicly humiliated Abi by getting her shirtless and dragging her into the bar of the Vic and announced what she had done.

Just last month Jamie Borthwick, who plays Jay Brown, posted a picture of himself, Harry Reid and Max Bowden claiming they were all friends. However, Harry posted a picture in response.

He posted the image of him and Max with their fists in the air with Jamie in the middle. He joked: “I’ve seen that photo. We ain’t friends. It got heavy afterwards. #EastEnders”

EastEnders is on Mondays and Fridays at 8pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm.
