Fans are demanding Kara-Leah Fernandes is given an award for her emotional scenes in EastEnders.

Kara, who plays Bailey Baker, first appeared in the BBC soap at the beginning on the year and was later revealed to be Mitch’s daughter, making her Keegan’s half-sister.

Viewers soon saw that Bailey was a young carer for her mum Dinah, who was suffering with MS.

A couple of weeks ago, Dinah, who was struggling with depression, sadly ended up taking her own life. But Mitch has been hiding the truth from his little girl to protect her.

In last night’s episode (Monday May 28) Bailey, Mitch and Karen went for a picnic in the park with some other Albert Square residents.

Bailey was happily playing football with Mick and Linda’s son Ollie when Dennis decided to pick on Ollie.

Later, Ollie decided to get revenge on Dennis and kicked him in the face after he fell over.

Not seeing who the culprit was, Mitch told whoever had hurt Dennis to own up.

Knowing Ollie was the one who kicked Dennis, Bailey took the blame for the four-year-old not wanting him to get into trouble.

Karen went over to Bailey who revealed that it was Ollie. Karen then told Mitch the truth.

She told her ex that Bailey just did what came naturally to her. She then said: “If you think telling the truth is important even when it’s hard, then maybe that’s something you’ve got to teach her.”

Mitch later sat down with Bailey and told her telling lies isn’t right even when you’re trying to protect someone.
