EastEnders catfight leaves viewers in hysterics

There was a fruit and veg brawl on Bridge Street...

There’s nothing we love more than a good soap catfight – so when Stacey Slater and Sonia Fowler came to blows in the middle of the market during tonight’s episode, we could hardly contain our excitement!

The mud-slinging kicked off in the wake of Stacey’s recent separation from hubby Martin. He’s still furious that his missus bedded her ex, Max Branning, at Christmas, and threw cheating Stacey out onto the street earlier this week.

Sonia took pity on Stace and gave her a place to stay while she and Martin try to figure things out – but it soon became clear in tonight’s episode exactly who’s side Sonia is on…

With Martin refusing to let Stacey see her kids, Kush felt compelled to step in and try to get the pair talking again.

He dragged Stacey over to Martin’s market stall, and implored them to put their differences aside for the sake of their children – but it’s looking increasingly likely that there’s just no fixing the Fowler marriage.

As the conversation swiftly descended into a war of words, Stacey told Martin that he wouldn’t be getting custody of their kids, prompting Sonia to wade in. And before long Martin’s exes were hurling insults at each other like it was going out of fashion.

“It’s meant to be the turkey that gets stuffed at Christmas!” sneered Sonia. “Three kids by three dads, and you ain’t even thirty yet. You know, you give it all the ‘poor me’, but your morals – they’re as loose as your knickers!”

“What like your mum’s and your sister’s?” Stacey retorted. “Because the way I heard it, your mum had more men than the Grand old Duke of York!”

But Sonia delivered the final blow. “Everyone pussyfoots around you – ‘is she on her meds?’. We all think it. She’s more unstable than a three-legged chair.”

As Stacey flew at Sonia, it fell to Kush and Martin to hold the warring women back. The fight was brought to an abrupt end after Kush doubled over in pain, as the stress of the situation took its toll on his weak heart.

But even as nurse Sonia tended to him while concerned Stacey looked on, the ladies still couldn’t resist having another pop at each other as they traded insults once again!

The side-splitting scenes were an extra special treat for viewers, who don’t normally get a Wednesday night instalment of the Walford drama.

And fans took to Twitter during the hilarious slanging match to show their support for their favourite characters…
