Barbara Windsor celebrates her birthday over afternoon tea with David Walliams

Happy birthday, Dame Barbara!

Former EastEnders actress Dame Barbara Windsor looked happy as she celebrated her upcoming birthday with her good friend David Walliams.

The actress, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, is set to turn 82 on August 6. She celebrated with an afternoon of tea and cake with the Britain’s Got Talent judge.

Posting a series of photos to Instagram, David revealed: “Afternoon tea with a legend. Dame Barbara Windsor.”

The first shot showed a smiling Barbara posing for a picture sandwiched between David and his mother Kathleen.

Barbara’s devoted husband Scott Mitchell was also at the party and was seen smiling with his wife and Kathleen.

Another showed Barbara posing with her birthday cake – a delicious-looking creation topped with yellow buttercream and delicate flowers, with the words Dame Barbara iced on the top.

The new pictures of the iconic actress follow the news that her screen son Ross Kemp, who played hardman Grant Mitchell, is set to pay tribute to the actress in a new documentary.

He told The Mirror: “I’d like to do a show on Alzheimer’s. Living With… It could be anything, cancer, mental illness, Boris Johnson…”

Ross also revealed how Barbara was getting on.

He said: “I spoke to Scott last week. She has good days and days that aren’t so good. She’s affected by light, so when it gets dark it gets difficult.”

He added: “She’s Barbara Windsor and we love her.”

Barbara also recently enjoyed lunch with her old friend Christopher Biggins.

Sharing the shot to Twitter, he later revealed to The Sun: “She is fantastic. I thought she looked wonderful, she was fighting fit.”
