Another said: “Thank you so much for showing the importance of the LGBTQ+ ❤️, it really shows that Eastenders is a very respectful soap 💞xx”

A third said: “Here we go, more teasing😂😂😂 Not sure I can take anymore. But when you tease its for a good reason, it’s always worth watching.”

The show was dogged for years about its LGBT representation with only two characters on the show – Sonia and Tina – shown to be part of the community.

However they were both shown to sleep with men rather than women leading to claims of gay-washing from viewers.

But since Kate Oates has taken over she has rapidly increased diversity on the show.

Now there are Ben Mitchell, Callum Highway, Iqra Ahmed and her girlfriend Ash and Bernie Taylor all representing the community.

There have also been strides to introduce more ethnic diversity into the show with a mixed race family, more black characters, more Muslim characters and a new Sikh family arriving soon.

The Panesars will be made up of three brothers, Kheerat, Jags and Vinny, who will cause quite a stir when they arrive in the autumn and are said to be charming, but a forced to be reckoned with.
