Michelle Connor will be leaving Weatherfield later this year, and Corrie scriptwriters are going to make sure she leaves with a bang.

These are said to include a heartbreaking baby twist, and a shocking love split as a consequence.

As Kym plans her departure after 13 years on the soap, bosses are devising a devastating few months for the matriarch.

Viewers know that her fiancé Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) is desperate to become a father, while Michelle already has biological offspring Ali Neeson and adopted son Ryan.

In a devastating tragedy to air soon, Michelle and Robert will suffer another failed pregnancy.

Ultimately, the tragic events and rollercoaster of emotions will lead to the pair splitting up, according to The Sun.

The pair recently decided to try for a family, but the decision has bought back sad memories for Michelle whose baby Ruairi died two years ago.

Her son with then-husband Steve McDonald, Ruairi was born prematurely at just 23 weeks. And died shortly after.

Subsequent scenes showed Michelle at an all-time low, and she even considered taking her own life.

Kym drew on her experiences to film the devastating scenes, as she lost her own son Archie in 2009 when he was stillborn.

Former Hear’Say singer Kym, 42, signed on to the ITV soap as former pub landlady Michelle Connor 13 years ago in what was supposed to be a cameo role, but has now decided it’s the “right time” for her to move on to something new.

She told The Sun newspaper: “When I was lucky enough to be offered four episodes I could never in my wildest dreams have thought I’d be here 13 years later.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult decision but it feels like the right time for me to explore some other roles.”

Kym’s departure from the show was confirmed by Corrie executive producer John Whiston, who said he was “sad” to be losing her from the show, but “totally understands” her desire to head off into new ventures.

He said: “Kym has done a fantastic job. She has brought incredible heart and humanity to some hugely important stories.

“We will be really sad to lose her when she goes but totally understand that, after dedicating herself to the show for so long she now fancies trying something else.”

During her time on the show, Kym has been involved in some heavy plots, including suffering a stillbirth, being drugged and kidnapped by her ex-partner Will, and being involved in a car crash with her teenage son Ali.
