Corrie’s Nicola Thorp shares a little-known connection to Katherine Kelly

We'd forgotten about this...

We love an unexpected connection between soap stars here at Entertainment Daily! no matter how obscure that connection is.

So we were delighted to discover that one of our current favourite females of Weatherfield Nicola Thorp (Nicola Rubinstein) has a little known link to one of our all time faves.

Back in 2013 Nicola – who is currently plotting to bring down her on-screen dad Pat Phelan – starred in an ITV drama series with none other than Katherine Kelly – AKA the legendary Becky McDonald.

The series, called The Guilty, was a three-part series about a missing boy and also starred Friday Night Dinner’s Tamsin Greig.

Katherine played the mum of the missing boy, whose remains were discovered five years after he went missing from his home.

Meanwhile Nicola had a smaller role, credited as Miss Bremner.

Since leaving Corrie back in 2012, Katherine has impressed critics in a range of dramas from Mr Selfridge to her recent role as a female jihadi in Sky One’s Strike Back.

We’d still love to see Becky return to the Rovers, especially now her ex Steve McDonald is dating her arch enemy Tracy Barlow.

Meanwhile, it’s a big week for Nicola over on the cobbles as Phelan figures out his daughter has been plotting his downfall alongside his nemesis Gary Windass.

Spoiler photos have shown Nicola looking seriously unwell in a hospital bed with Phelan at her side, leaving fans to worry that the psychotic builder might strike again.

Phelan will also discover that Nicola has been harbouring Seb Franklin in her flat and struggles to contain his rage over Nic’s brutal betrayal.

He manages it though, playing his cards close his chest and leaving his daughter thinking she has the upper hand.

Nicola knows that evil Phelan raped her mother and framed Anna Windass, leading to her being sentenced to five years in prison.

She’s yet to discover the full truth – that he has murdered three people and has two bodies decomposing in the lake at the mill building site.
