In lovely news, Coronation Street actor James Burrows has confirmed he’s expecting a baby with girlfriend Sophie Coates!
The soap star shared an image of the ultrasound to Instagram on Friday, adding that he’s “over the moon”.
James, who plays Ali Neeson in the ITV show, wrote: “Me and my beautiful girlfriend @sophie_coates are over the moon to announce that we’re having a baby.”
The 27-year-old added: “We can not contain our excitement we are so so happy x.”
Jubilant fans rushed to offer their congratulations.
One wrote: “Omg congratulations ahh such good news.”
Another commented: “Aww congratulations to you both, what a beautiful journey you’re on xx.”
A third added: “Oh my life that’s wonderful news!!! Congratulations you two!!”
James and Sophie, 30, have been dating since 2017 and she recently wished her man a happy birthday on Instagram.
Beside a cute couple selfie, Sophie wrote: “Happy Birthday Gorgeous ❤️ 27 today 🤩 #babysgrowingup #toyboy #passtheparcel.”
Sophie revealed how they met, after becoming friends on Facebook first.
She wrote in November 2016, beside a blurred shot of her sitting next to James: “It’s our one year online anniversary according to Facebook 🙋🏼 Even though we didn’t meet in real life until 5 months later…
“Here’s a bleary picture of us on the week we actually met / the night before I moved to Italy 💔 to mark the occasion ❤️ (at my brothers 30th birthday wearing a crown, not trying to steal anyone’s shine).”
James replied to the comment: “@sophie_coates I love you to the moon and back a thousand times xx❤️❤️.”
Other followers worried the pregnancy could impact James’ role on Corrie, writing: “Omg congrats !! 😍🎉Does this mean ur leaving corrie ?!☹️.”
It follows some recent dramatic on-screen action for the actor.
GP Ali murdered Ronan the drug dealer after he threatened his family.
James joined Coronation Street in the summer, playing the biological son of Kym Marsh’s character Michelle Connor.
He took over from actor Dario Coates who originally played the character.
We’re so happy for you both! And let’s hope James just takes paternity leave – we never want him to leave the cobbles.
