Josh Tucker continues to mess with David Platt’s mind on Coronation Street – with things heading to a violent showdown in episodes to be shown next week.
After weeks of goading and tormenting from his rapist Josh, David lashes out at the charity boxing match and almost kills Gary Windass.

Since Josh assaulted him earlier this month, David’s behaviour has been spiralling out of control – leaving him like a coiled spring.

When Tyrone is forced to pull out of the charity boxing match in memory of Luke Britton (Monday 9 April), David insists on taking his place – despite his epilepsy.
But when he steps into the ring, David annihilates poor Gary, taking out all his frustration on his unsuspecting opponent!
In violent scenes, David’s punches put Gary in hospital with a bleed on the brain.
Ryan Clayton, who plays Josh, has revealed how his character is the puppet master to David’s emotions, revealing that he wants to make David look unhinged.

Although he doesn’t want David anywhere near the boxing event, the eventual outcome serves his purpose.
He tells the Radio Times: “Josh is revelling in it because this is more ammo for him to prove that David is full of rubbish if anything ever comes out.
“If David is the type of person to do that then he is obviously unhinged.”
He adds: “I have spoken to Duncan from Survivors Manchester about the traits rapists tend to have, obviously everyone is different but there are familiar manipulation games those kind of people play that are common throughout lots of cases.
“Josh’s objective for the assault was clear – he just wanted sex and that’s what he got. But now there is a lot of manipulation going on, which is a harder head space to get into as an actor.”
While David’s assault scene prompted more than 100 complaints to Ofcom, there has been a 1,700% increase in calls to survivors’ helpline Male Survivor.
Corrie boss Kate Oates has defended the controversial storyline, saying: “We decided to cover the topic of male rape to help try and highlight the culture of silence that surrounds male sexual assault, and issues surrounding male mental health in general.
“Over the next few weeks of Corrie, our message is to talk: it’s hard to speak out, but if you’re suffering in silence, there are people out there willing to listen and support you.”
