Corrie’s Daniel Brocklebank splits from boyfriend of two years

It wasn't that long ago they spoke about starting a family

| Updated:

Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has split from his boyfriend, according to a report.

The 38-year-old actor – who plays vicar Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap – and former Mr Gay UK Stuart Hatton, are said to have ended their relationship just before Christmas after two years of dating.

And according to The Sun, the couple’s hectic schedules played a big part in them calling it quits.

An unnamed source is reported to have told the outlet: “Dan is really busy with Corrie and Stuart has his business interests in the north east. They just don’t have the time and they sat down and had the talk to end things.

“There’s no-one else involved, things just didn’t work out and they decided to move on.

“They still care about each other and wish each other the best.”

A spokesperson also confirmed the mutual split for the couple who first met at at Stockholm Pride in 2017.

Just three months ago Dan told OK! Magazine he was keen to have kids with his now ex-boyfriend.

“We’d both like to have kids – I’ve always wanted them,” he said.

“I came out in 1995 and we couldn’t have adopted then, but things have changed to enable us to do that, if indeed we did want to adopt.”

Dan – previously in a relationship with Corrie co-star Rob Mallard – also seemed to be over the moon with his relationship back in November as he seemingly tweeted about his happy life with ballroom dance teacher Stuart.

“The best love story is when you fall in love at the most unexpected time with the most unexpected person,” he said at the time.
