David Platt and Shona Ramsey have found true love (for now anyway) despite a horrifying moment from their past which divides them.
Shona’s son Clayton murdered David’s wife Kylie in hideous scenes, that left bereaved David howling in the street clutching the lifeless body of his beloved.
As David struggled to pick up the pieces of his life, Shona arrived in Weatherfield – keeping her real identity a secret at first.
However, despite their killer connection, the pair grew close and are going from strength to strength – and could even be married soon according to actor Jack P Shepherd.
But he does hint that Clayton might return at some point too…
Speaking to the Inside Soap Yearbook 2019, Jack said: “I would like to see Shona and David get hitched soon, but I don’t want any of this bistro wedding nonsense! Everyone’s done it!
“If we do it, I want it to be a proper church and then a big do at a stately home.”
When pressed on whether David and Shona are “rock solid”, he replied: “There’s no such thing in Weatherfield!
“They’ve been through a lot but the fact her son killed David’s wife is always going to be in the background.”
Clayton was sent to jail in October 2016 after being found guilty of brutally murdering Kylie when she tried to stop him attacking her friend.
In the words of his furious dad in the courtroom, Clayton was “only a kid” when he was sentenced so could he be released soon?
He would certainly be an explosive uninvited guest at David and Shona’s wedding if he turned up!
Earlier this year, Jack bought up the possibility of Clayton returning again, telling Inside Soap magazine: “If Shona’s son Clayton were to be released from prison, it would mean a lot of heartache for David and Shona.
“That could split them – but there is a lot that might keep them together too – so they might still get married!”
ITV fans even think they recently spotted Clayton back filming on the soap…
