Weatherfield’s Eileen Grimshaw could be bumped off by a sex trafficking gang after acting on her doubts about her boyfriend, according to a report.
Soap viewers have already seen Eileen dump - and quickly take back - builder Jan Lozinski after she became suspicious about how he knew solicitor Martin.
The taxi operator had convinced herself Jan may be a drug dealer until he explained he had only been involved with pushing valium once to support his family following the death of his father back in Poland.
But Eileen’s concerns about Jan’s possible criminal activities will soon cause problems for the couple again - and it may end with her life, rather than their relationship, on the line.
According to The Sun, Eileen (played by Sue Cleaver for 19 years) will decide not to accept Jan’s story and attempt to discover the truth after being hoodwinked so thoroughly by her serial killer ex Pat Phelan.
However, a confrontation with human traffickers could leave her life in the balance.
When the gang realise she could blow their entire operation they decide to take drastic action.
A soap insider is reported to have told the newspaper’s website: "Learning from her past mistakes, Eileen will start digging into Jan's life but the truth is more horrifying than she could have ever imagined.
"She goes blundering into one of the nail bars convinced it's a front for drugs but when the gang realise she could blow their entire operation they decide to take drastic action to keep their sex trafficking ring secret.
"Eileen screams for her left - but will anyone hear her and rescue her from certain death?"
The source also added that a terrified Eileen is "desperate" to save the women forced into sex slavery she discovers in the salon where Alina Pop works - but may not survive her ordeal to do anything about it.
Viewers previously wondered whether Jan might be an undercover police officer.
Subsequent episodes showed him warning Alina about the dangers of trying to contact her ex Seb.
