Corrie fans spot something VERY different about Fiz’s daughter Hope Stape

The soap's viewers were really confused

Coronation Street: A New Hope.

No, not a special Star Wars-inspired episode of the soap, but what Corrie fans were talking about after last night’s episode.

Fiz’s daughter Hope made an appearance as she and her mum and sister Ruby went to visit Chesney.

And the seven-year-old showed off her feisty and funny side, as she presented her Uncle Chesney with a cupcake they’d baked and told him “there’s no snot in it or anything.”

But the soap’s viewers were quick to notice that Hope looked very different from the last time she’d been seen on screen.

No longer blonde, and with a completely different face, it’s not surprising fans noticed the swap.

In fact it’s an entirely new actress playing the role of Fiz Stape’s daughter, as youngster Isabella Flanagan has taken over the role.

One Twitter user wrote: “Fiz’s daughter hope was a wee blonde girl and now she’s tall with dark hair?”

Another added: “Still don’t understand how Hope has gone from having blonde hair, to brown… no logic Corrie #Corrie”.

Hope had previously been portrayed by twins Faith and Nicole Holt, since 2012.

And young Isabella isn’t the only one in her family in the soap spotlight, as her nine-year-old big sister Amelia already stars in Emmerdale, as April Windsor.

As her first episode aired on Monday night, the girls’ parents Rachel and Chris Flanagan both tweeted their joy, with mum Rachel saying: “So proud of this one.”

Hope lives at number nine with mum Fiz (Jennie Mcapline), her fiancé Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) and his daughter Ruby. And she might only be seven years old, but life in Weatherfield has already proved to be very eventful.

Even her entrance to soap world was history in the making. Back in December 2010 her premature arrival during the spectacular tram crash episode became the first ever soap birth to be aired live on screen.

Her dad John Stape was a convicted kidnapper and secret murderer, who Fiz had married in prison, and who eventually met his end following a car crash whilst on the run.
And at aged just four, she was diagnosed with cancer and had to undergo tough treatment in hospital.

Her step-dad Tyrone was determined to give Hope the most perfect Christmas possible, and turned the Street into a winter wonderland. Although he also got himself into thousands of pounds’ worth of debt…

Now in remission, she’s clearly a cheeky fun seven-year-old and has already made a good impression on the show’s fans.

Coronation Street continues on ITV at 7.30pm on Wednesday.
