Corrie fans call for Alya to be axed after being exposed as Carla’s stalker

She's "sorry", but fans aren't having any of it!

Coronation Street fans have claimed that Alya Nazir has outlived her uses on the ITV soap.

Last night (Wednesday 10 April), Alya was exposed as the mystery stalker whose cruel messages to Carla helped tip the factory boss over the edge of reason.

Viewers knew that Carla had been receiving sinister texts from a person calling themselves ‘Rana’ – a voice from the grave, or someone messing with Carla’s head?

Now, the mystery tormentor has been unveiled as Alya – Carla’s arch enemy ever since the pair went into battle over Underworld.

During Wednesday’s double bill, Kate Connor vowed to find out who was behind the messages sent to her sister Carla.

And viewers were stunned when Alya admitted she’d “done something bad”, adding: “It was me who sent the messages.”

When a furious Kate demanded to know why Alya would do such a horrible thing in Rana’s name, Alya cried: “It’s just not fair that [Carla] is still walking around like nothing’s happened.”

Kate warned: “Carla deserves everything that’s coming to her, but I won’t have Rana’s name used again.”

After the big reveal, Corrie fans united on Twitter, begging the ITV soap to get rid of the character.

One wrote: “Can’t stand this character. Bin her off.”

Another said: “Alya is deadwood now as a character, needs to be shifted out.”

A third typed: “What a cow, I really hate her so much. Why couldn’t she leave Corrie instead? Don’t like her, she’s so mean and nasty.”

“Alya is so horrible and nasty,” seethed another. “I hope she gets what she deserves soon. #corrie.”

Other fans said they were “disgusted” with Alya, and described her as “cruel” and an “evil cow”.

Having annoyed Carla’s legion of fans, we’ll have to wait and see what happens to Alya after her shock revelation…
