Coronation Street viewers have seen the recent return of Roy and Hayley’s foster son Wayne Hayes.
Wayne originally appeared in Coronation Street back in 2000 and was fostered by the Croppers.
He left the soap in 2001 after his mother’s abusive boyfriend Alex was arrested.
Viewers have not taken well to the returning character as he appears to be up to something dodgy. but they’ve been left wondering one question. Is Wayne played by the original actor?

The answer is no. Wayne was originally played by actor Gary Damer.
Although Gary has not reprised his role as Wayne he has continued his acting career, appearing in TV series Fresh Meat, Some Girls and Staff Room.
The character was taken over by actor Adam Barlow. Yes, we know! Not to be confused with Sam Robertson who plays the character Adam Barlow.
Fans have pointed out the coincidence that the actor has the same name as famous Coronation Street character Adam.

Now a health and safety inspector, Wayne arrived back on the cobbles on Sunday night and it’s his job to solve the mystery of the Underworld roof collapse which claimed the life of Rana Habeeb.
Wayne caught up with Roy and he told his former foster son about the death of his wife Hayley and explained how important Carla was to him.

Viewers know Carla was aware that the roof needed fixing but the roof was tampered with, and it looks as though Wayne might be onto her…
