Star of Coronation Street Katie McGlynn says Sinead Osbourne’s cancer “could come back”.
The cobbles favourite – who has played the machinist since 2013 – has opened up about her emotional storyline, which has seen her alter-ego get the all-clear after giving birth to her son Bertie.

However, she told the Manchester Evening News: “I don’t know what’s next for Sinead yet.
“I’m contracted to stay well into this year.
“Sinead is in remission and everything is going well but she’s not totally out of the woods yet because her cancer could come back.
“I much prefer it this way because it’s like real life.”

The soap star has been praised for her portrayal of Sinead during the tough storyline, and Katie, 25, has been working with Rob Mallard – who plays her on-screen husband Daniel Osbourne – at the Mummy’s Star charity which helps women and their families affected by cancer during pregnancy.
While she initially didn’t realise it was possible to battle the disease while being pregnant, she has learned more about the issue and is glad to be talking about something so important.

She said: “The reaction to the storyline has been really good.
“There have been a lot of responses on Twitter from people saying they have been going through this.
“It’s been very humbling. On set I was filling up before the cameras.
“A lot of people are in this position so I felt a big responsibility.
“Everyone works differently but I became Sinead and the emotions just came with it. The writers have been amazing at handling these scenes so delicately.”
