Gemma Winter has revealed the real reason her brother Paul hates her in Coronation Street.
After weeks of pretending to be an innocent victim of her evil criminal brother, she confessed the truth to Chesney Brown last night.
Far from Paul being evil, it was revealed he actually saved Gemma from prison by taking the blame for when she broke into a house.
Unable to lie anymore with Paul threatening to reveal the truth, she told Chesney: “The first proper bad thing I ever did was… I broke into this house.
“I was only a kid, and I wasn’t planning on nicking anything. I just thought it was going to be a laugh.

“Only, it wasn’t. It really wasn’t.
“I panicked. I legged it. And someone off the estate had seen me and recognised me, and the next day, the police came around and that was it.
“I was bang to rights.”
But instead of letting his sister go to prison for the break in Paul told the police that he was responsible and she was only with him.
“Paul said that I was with him,” she told Chesney, adding: “He covered for me.”
But instead of being grateful, Gemma still played the victim telling Chesney how Paul has it in for her.

She added: “Ever since then, he’s made it his mission to mess up my life. He’s never let me forget it. This is what he does! He finds out where I live. He turns up. He mixes mates with my mates.
“I’ve done some things in my life that I’m not proud of, but I’ve changed. I’m not like that anymore.”
And despite hearing the truth Chesney told her: “I know you’re not. You’re a good person, Gemma.”
But could she find a way to thank her brother for what he did and help him forgive her?
