Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon reveals ‘battle with negative thoughts’

She refuses to let it get to her anymore

Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt on Coronation Street, refuses to feel down about herself.

The Cobbles star has confessed she is always comparing herself to others that she sees on social media but she has vowed to stop the comparisons.

In a message posted to her Instagram account, the star vowed to not let it get to her any more.

She wrote: “For the past few months, I have been really really battling with the negative thoughts my head constantly produces about my body.

“I look at pics on Instagram and I automatically start comparing every part of myself to that picture.

“It’s ridiculous. And it seems like all I have to do is look at a burger these days and feel like I’ve put on 10 stone.

“BUT let’s be kinder to ourselves. And each other. I will eat a Kit Kat if I feel like it and maybe I will order two takeaways in a week but I refuse to let anyone make me feel [bleep] about it.

“Own what you’ve got and love it because I think we know all too well that life is short and precious. Eat that burger babe x and enjoy it x (sic).”

Lucy announced in May that she would be departing the soap and admitted it was an “extremely difficult” decision to quit the show.

She wrote on Twitter at the time: “Would’ve liked the chance to announce this in my own time lol… however, after the most incredible 4 years, I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020.

“It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me.

“I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people everyday.

“I’m so thankful to Iain and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly.

“Thank you so much for your support and love … can’t wait to see what’s in store for Bethany this year. (sic)”

Lucy recently admitted she hopes she will return to Corrie one day.

“When I leave I’ll have been there for five years, and I’ve never done anything else,” she told the Mirror.

“But I’ll end up going back – I’ll be back.”
