Coronation Street SPOILERS: Ryan Clayton speaks out on rapist Josh’s return

He's back on screens next week

Ryan Clayton found his Coronation Street fighting scenes “challenging”, but he really enjoyed getting into the “mindset of being in prison”.

The 27-year-old star, who plays Josh Tucker, enjoyed shooting scenes in the fictional jail because he liked pretending to be a prisoner.

He has teased fans to expect some huge scenes between his character and Jack P. Shepherd‘s alter ego David Platt when he returns.

He told Digital Spy: “The set of the prison was brilliant because I could really get myself into it.

“There were a few scenes that were challenging because it was all fight co-ordination and very physical work all day but it was really good to get myself into the mindset of being in the prison.

“Working with Jack again was good fun, there’s huge stakes so filming some scenes felt like it was 100mph.

“We then had scenes that were just us two alone and those scenes I am really looking forward to watching because they are probably some of my favourite scenes that I have done.”

Ryan first appeared on the cobbles as Josh in January 2018 and the character made David’s life a misery after raping him and then taunting him.

Josh later identified another potential victim, Ethan Corrin (Kyle Rowe), but the character beat Josh up, leaving him blind, when he was warned by Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) to avoid Josh because of what had happened to David.

And Ryan was delighted to be asked back to the cobbles to reprise his role as the evil character.

He added that he was “at the cinema” when he got the email from his agent asking him to go back.

The actor said it was “really nice” to be asked to return.

While Ryan admits Josh still has plenty of “bravado” at times in jail, he is a different person when he is left alone with David.

The actor said: “Josh is very scared. He is still full of bravado but the second he is alone with David you really see how scared and panicked he is.”
