It’s biggest will-they-won’t-they since Ross and Rachel, but as Kevin and Abi edge closer to getting it together this festive season, she could be about to mess it all up…
After months of hiding their feelings, pretending they don’t actually like each other, Abi and Kevin finally set up a date for a drink just after Christmas.
Sally reveals to Abi that Kevin is putting their drink ahead of a banger race he’s really been looking forward to, so Abi insists they meet for their drink tomorrow instead.

Kev agrees, but it’s clear he’s disappointed.
At the Bistro New Year’s Eve party the next evening, which new owner Ray has put on to charm to locals – even donating some of the night’s takings to a cancer charity in Sinead’s memory – Abi arrives looking glam.
She confides in Eileen she’s got the hots for Kevin and it looks like tonight will finally be the night.
But alas, things go awry (again) when Kevin overhears Abi talking about him – and she isn’t saying the most flattering things.
Likening him to a boring, safe hatchback, Abi has no idea Kevin is listening and is upset at what’s he’s heard.
Later, Eileen assures Kev that Abi really does like him and urges him to go for it.
As it looks like it’s back on, Kevin heads off to find Abi, a man on a mission.
But the next day he’s sobbing on Sally’s shoulder as it’s revealed Abi kissed Ray!
Sally insists to Kev that Abi really does like him, and the snog with Ray meant nothing, but when Abi returns to No.4 soon after she puts her foot in it again.
Waxing lyrical about how fit Ray is, Abi has no idea Kevin’s in the kitchen and has once again heard every word she’s said!

She’s mortified to have hurt his feelings yet again and it doesn’t look like they’re going to get it together any time soon.
When Ray continues to pursue Abi the next day, how will he react when he discovers she’s been in prison?
Speaking about Kevin and Abi’s ‘romance’, show boss Iain Macleod recently said: “There’s a classic disappointment as the countdown reaches zero at new year – as is always the way.
“It will be the end of the first chapter of Kevin and Abi’s rom com but the beginning of the next chapter.”
