Coronation Street SPOILERS: Emma rushed to hospital for an emergency operation

Steve's on the warpath

Next week’s Coronation Street sees big drama for Emma Broker when she is rushed to hospital with a mystery illness… and Steve McDonald blames Ali Neeson for everything.

Soap fans have watched Ali’s life spiral out of control since his addiction to painkillers has taken hold, and already he has landed Maria’s son Liam in danger when he fell asleep while he was supposed to be babysitting.

However his troubles are far from over, and next week sees him put someone else’s life in danger once again.

Despite telling Toyah Battersby that he is weaning himself off the diazepam and is feeling much more in control, Ali’s clearly not coping as well as he says because he fails to realise Emma is severely ill when he assesses her.

Maria Connor is worried about Emma when she arrives at work with a pain in her side and asks Ali to take a look at her friend.

But Ali is distracted by the fact Maria and Gary Windass have organised a date and tells Emma that she probably just has food poisoning.

Emma feels awful and heads home to rest, while Toyah tells Ali that he should speak to Maria and tell her how he really feels about her before it is too late.

However, Ali’s love life is soon the least of his worries when Gary and Maria find Emma collapsed and unconscious on the floor at home later that day.

The pair call an ambulance and Emma is rushed to hospital, where a worried Steve is eventually told that his daughter has a ruptured appendix and needs an emergency operation.

Steve is furious that Ali failed to realise just how ill Emma was when he saw her and he lashes out at the doctor, accusing him of medical negligence.

But will Emma be okay?

And will this latest drama be enough to make Ali realise he desperately needs to turn his life around?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
