Coronation Street SPOILER: Roy and Carla fall out

The boat fire is causing tension

| Updated:

Carla Connor and Roy Cropper’s friendship hits the rocks next week when Carla continues to let Abi Franklin take the blame for the recent boat fire.

Coronation Street fans recently saw a fire rip though Peter Barlow’s beloved boat, leaving Simon Barlow fighting for his life as he got trapped inside.

The factory boss has been hiding the huge secret that Roy was the one who started the fire accidentally while sleepwalking… and even he doesn’t know that he’s the mystery arsonist.

But while Carla has been busy keeping the secret from Peter about who set his precious boat on fire, she has gone to great lengths deleting CCTV footage that shows Roy starting the blaze, and even getting rid of the clothes that he was wearing on the night of the crime.

But next week Carla’s lies start to catch up with her as the police arrive once again to question her, convinced that she knows more than she’s letting on.

As they ask her about the CCTV footage from the factory security cameras, she tells the police that she was in town at the time of the fire and that her CCTV sometimes has a technical glitch that sees the video deleting itself.

The police somehow believe her lies and Carla’s relieved when Peter reveals they have decided the boat fire was an accident.

But while the police might have closed the case, Peter isn’t convinced that they know the whole truth.

Peter’s suspicions are confirmed when Seb Franklin tells Peter that he saw Carla acting shiftily the morning after the fire and that he watched as she put a mysterious bin bag in the boot of her car.

But while viewers know that the bag contained Roy’s clothes, Roy is still in the dark and asks Carla about what was in the bag.

By the end of next week Roy has had enough and quizzes Carla further about what she is hiding… and tells her that he thinks she is letting Abi take the blame for the fire because she still loves Peter.

Carla is hurt and their usually solid friendship hits the rocks.

But while Roy couldn’t be further from the truth, how long will it be before he works out that Carla is lying to everyone just to protect him?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
