Corrie SPOILER: Dark storylines planned with ‘murderers and rapists moving in’

More killers on the cobbles are coming!

| Updated:

Coronation Street received a lot of criticism over its dark storylines last year.

Serial killer Pat Phelan murdered his way through the residents, David Platt was drugged and sexually assaulted, and before that his niece was groomed and gang-raped.

Then new boss Iain MacLeod took over the show and promised to bring the humour back.

But he also defended the former boss Kate Oates’ record and said he enjoyed her dark storylines, and now that seems to be more the case than ever.

A shock new report claims Coronation Street is going to have an influx of criminals moving into a new halfway house in Weatherfield.

Murderers, rapists and thieves will be joined by… more murderers, rapists and thieves on the cobbles.

The likes of convicted killer Tracy Barlow will face the horror of having other lags shopping in her florists.

And conman and thief Nick Tilsley might face stiff competition from others wanting to steal from his own grandmother.

A Corrie source told The Mirror: “The prospect of a house full of ex-cons leaves many of the residents feeling pretty terrified.

“They will be worried about their homes, their kids and their livelihoods.

“Craig hasn’t been a policeman for very long – but he would certainly have his work cut out for him with a house full of jailbirds living on the street.”

The development comes in the wake of a new super villain being revealed to be heading for the cobbles.

Boss Iain said: “Corrie can have baddies who come in, burn bright and then are gone, but also a more long-range type, like Mike Baldwin, who is ruthless and self-serving and rides roughshod over everybody.

“We’re designing a character who is more of that latter type, who can stay in the show forever as an antagonist just messing up everyone’s lives.

“We’re going with this character on this journey, you go in seeing their intentions were good but things rapidly snowball.

“By the end of 2019 there will be a new, complicated villainous presence on the cobbles.”
