Coronation Street SPOILER: Chesney and Gemma get worrying news about their babies

Their lives are about to be turned upside down

There’s drama heading for Coronation Street next week when parents-to-be Gemma Winter and Chesney Brown get some shocking news about their unborn quads.

Soap fans have watched Gemma and Chesney struggling to get their heads around the fact they are going to have not one – but four – babies together.

But as the pair have been inundated with well-wishes and generous contributions to their baby funds, it seems it doesn’t matter how prepared they are for the arrival of their four babies, because life sometimes throws a spanner in the works…

The pair have had a lot to contend with recently… not only are they trying to prepare for the birth of their babies, but Gemma’s mum Bernie has also arrived in Weatherfield to turn their lives upside down.

And it’s not just Bernie who is causing trouble.

Her ex flame Kel is also back on the scene, causing a strain between the family as Gemma’s brother Paul struggles seeing his mum’s former flame again.

However, family drama is soon the least of Ches and Gemma’s worries when a routine scan at the hospital doesn’t quite go to plan.

As the pair head for their latest scan they are left stunned when the specialist reveals that one of their babies is significantly smaller than the other three.

The future parents are left panicking when they’re told they will have to come in for weekly scans from now on instead of fortnightly, and they can’t help but fear the worst.

While doctors at the hospital don’t seem to be too worried about one of the quads being smaller than their brothers or sisters, Chesney and Gemma can’t help but fret about what it means for the future.

Could this latest setback in Gemma’s pregnancy be nothing to worry about, or are they heading for more heartache as their babies arrive later this year?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
