Coronation Street SPOILER: Chesney and Gemma put to the test

Here comes trouble!

Chesney Brown and Gemma Winter find their relationship takes a new turn when a brush with death leads to them having a very serious conversation.

Soap fans will have seen that Gemma has pushed Chesney to his limits recently with her pranks and messy ways… but somehow he can still see past her bad points and the pair are solid as ever.

Or so they think.

After being faced with death, Chesney is forced to address what would happen to son Joseph should he suddenly die, especially as his mum Katy also died back in 2017.

But instead of asking girlfriend Gemma to take on Joseph after his demise, Chesney makes the much more sensible decision to ask Tyrone and Fiz, leaving poor Gemma heartbroken.

Desperate to make it up to Gemma, Chesney tells her that he asked Tyrone because they’re in a better place to take on his son, and it’s nothing to do with the fact that she isn’t responsible enough.

But Gemma is unconvinced, and Chesney is forced to keep her happy by taking part in a Mr and Mrs quiz at the pub.

Once there Tracy isn’t happy when her and Steve are the first to be knocked out of the competition, especially when they’re the only official married couple there.

But Chesney announces that he and Gemma don’t have to be Mr and Mrs to prove they’re committed, Gemma is thrilled and it seems their relationship is back on track.

However, the smile is soon wiped off her face when they get to the next round and Chesney names ‘irresponsible’ as Gemma’s greatest fault, prompting them to lose the quiz.

Gemma is devastated that Chesney would say something like that in front of all her friends and family, and the pair row… but will they manage to get things back on track?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
