Coronation Street’s Billy Mayhew spirals into heroin addiction

Another heavy topic for the soap

Billy Mayhew’s battle with prescription drugs is set to get a lot worse, according to a report in The Sun on Sunday’s Bizarre section.

The story says that vicar Billy, who is already addicted to painkillers thanks to scheming Adam Barlow, will become dangerously hooked on heroin.

Billy’s been taking painkillers to cope with the injuries from his Christmas day cliff fall, which has seen him confined to a wheelchair.

Adam, who recently discovered Billy was responsible for the death of his mother, has been secretly supplying him with hardcore drugs and watching as he becomes dependant on them.

Now insiders have said that Billy will turn to heroin after his supply to the painkillers dries up, leaving him desperate.

Billy – played by Daniel Brocklebank – will be seen heading into a dangerous downward spiral over the coming weeks.

A source told the publication: “This will be quite a harrowing storyline, and Billy is set for a really rough time, especially when others find out about his habit.”

This storyline could be why recent location photos showed Daniel filming in a churchyard with Richard Crehan who plays Billy’s drug addict brother, Lee.

Lee was last seen on the cobbles in 2016 when he held Sarah Platt hostage – demanding Billy pay him £1000 to release her.

Billy then told his brother he never wanted to see him again.
