Coronation Street lines up wedding for Kate and Rana

Will their road to wedded bliss be drama free?

It has been revealed that Coronation Street’s Rana Nazir and Kate Connor are set to get engaged – sparking wedding excitement for ‘Kana’ fans across the country.

The pair have had a turbulent relationship to say the least, with Rana even finding herself estranged from her family when her same-sex romance was revealed.

However, the death of her father, Hassan, in the summer meant that she has reconnected with her mother, Saira, who she’s currently on a six-week cruise with as we speak.

At first Rana’s mother refused to let her see her dying father in hospital, and Rana was forced to lie that her relationship with Kate was over in order to see her dad before he passed away.

Rana was then seen struggling to live with the fact she’d lied to her father on his deathbed.

Back in August the Corrie website revealed: “Rana is forced to lie that she has seen ‘the error of her ways’ and is later wracked with guilt that she lied to her father before he died.”

According to TV Times, Rana will soon be back in Weatherfield and the pair are so happy to be reunited that there is an engagement on the cards.

But this wouldn’t be Coronation Street if the road to their wedding day was without drama or two.

Of course the soap has some more heartache lined up for the couple before they potentially tie the knot… with the pair clashing over what they both want from their futures.

But Bhavna Limbachia, who plays Rana, is confident that the couple can put their differences to one side and live happily ever after…

The actress told TV Times: “Rana and Kate have been through so much and faced so many hurdles already that I hope the end goal to be together can be realised.

“They’ve fought to get this far, so I think they will be willing to fight all the way.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
