Coronation Street: Julia Goulding’s exit as Shona Ramsey ‘revealed’

Did Audrey give the game away?

As Coronation Street‘s Julia Goulding prepares to welcome her first child it won’t be much longer that her alter ego Shona Ramsey is on our screens.

With the actress thought to be due late November/earlier December, a Christmas exit could be on the cards for struggling Shona.

In Monday night’s episodes (September 23) Audrey Roberts dropped a hint as to how Shona will leave.

Speaking to granddaughter Bethany Platt, Audrey suggested Shona wouldn’t stick around much longer due to all the pressure she is under.

After discussing misbehaving Max and everything that’s gone on, Audrey said: “I wouldn’t blame her if she decided she’d had enough and packed up and left.”

Is that a foreshadowing of what’s to come?

While he languishes behind bars, Shona has been left to pick up the pieces of their lives, including looking after David’s stepson, Max.

Max has been acting out ever since David was banged up, and hasn’t been taking his ADHD medication.

With Max’s behaviour getting worse, Shona was stunned to get a call to say he’s been trying to sell his ADHD medication at school.

With the lad suspended, Shona must visit David and tell him the truth about what’s going on in his absence.

But when she does confess the truth to David on Friday (September 27) he’s livid she’s been keeping secrets from him.

Realising he’s been harsh, David later calls Shona to apologise, and says he’d be lost without her. But will his words already have done too much damage?

Will Shona do as Audrey fears and pack her bags and leave?

In fact, Max’s behaviour caused the exit of Kylie Platt, Max’s real mum, when actress Paula Lane went on her own maternity leave.

Struggling to cope with his ADHD, Kylie began taking the boy’s medication to cope herself.

That then led to a battle with drug addiction, which saw David throw her out on Christmas Day and she left to get clean.

With Julia’s exit scheduled for around the same time of year, could history repeat itself for David?

Julia announced her pregnancy news earlier this year with a sweet post on Instagram

The actress has since confirmed she will be returning to Corrie after having her baby by revealing she’s signed a new contract for at least another year.
