It was the big charity fight night in Weatherfield last night

Coronation Street fans were horrified by last night’s Weatherfield charity boxing match – but not just because poor Gary Windass ended up in hospital…

When Tyrone Dobbs pulled out of the fight at the last minute, David offered to take his place in the ring.

David had originally been ruled out of competing because of his history with epilepsy – but his family’s words of warning fell on deaf ears.

At first it looked like Gary was going to win the fight without much effort, as David took a pummelling from his sister’s boyfriend.

But the harrowing scenes that followed were hard to watch as David was goaded by his attacker, Josh Tucker – making his blood boil and take out his fury for Josh on an unsuspecting Gary.

As Josh whispered in David’s ear: “I think you’d rather do round two with me,” David saw red and launched himself at Gary.

All the hurt and anger that David has been bottling up since he was raped by Josh last month came tumbling out, and it was like David was seeing Josh standing in front of him wearing boxing gloves instead of Gary.

While David’s friends and family watched on horrified as David unleashed his fury, fans were also left surprised…

In the end David had to be pulled off Gary – because referee Josh just stood back and let the dangerous fight unfold.

But despite the fact David has just beaten a man so badly that he was being rushed to hospital, Corrie fans still had the hairdresser’s back, calling out for David to use this moment to reveal what had happened to him.

As David looks more and more unhinged, could Josh use this latest incident against his victim if he ever speaks out about the night of the attack?
