| Updated:

Reports that the Coronation Street Christmas storyline was leaked have been cleared up, according to Digital Spy.

Earlier this week, locals reported screams and an explosion coming from the set along with flashing lights and a puff of smoke.

Spoiler photos in the Manchester Evening News showed a fair comes to Weatherfield and a helter skelter ride set up on the famous cobbles.

After the reported explosion on Wednesday night (October 16 2019), an onlooker told the publication: “There was a flash and a puff of smoke and people could be heard screaming.

“There was a crash and a bang coming from the fair thought to be from a gas canister as part of a storyline.

“It was around 11:45pm and people were on their balconies wondering what’s going on. One man was only wearing a pair of of underpants.”

There was a flash and a puff of smoke and people could be heard screaming.

However, Digital Spy quotes an insider as saying that there was no explosion and the smoke was a result from a heater on set.

Does that mean everyone in Weatherfield will make it through the festive season?

With Sinead Osbourne set to die in devastating scenes next week, that’s really quite enough death for the rest of the year, in our opinion.

Although Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Connor in Corrie has warned that Christmas on the cobbles will be “beyond dramatic”.

She told The Daily Star: “I’ve just received scripts for Christmas. What I can say is it’s beyond dramatic.”

And Jennie McAlpine, Fiz Stape, added: “I’m not sure if I’ll be getting any turkey this year.

“Fiz is going to be quite busy.”
