Coronation Street character ‘returns from the dead’ but fans spot mistakes

How did she get there so quickly?

Coronation Street fans were thrilled when Duncan Radfield (Nicholas Gleaves) finally confessed his crimes last night, but viewers spotted two blunders as a character returned from the dead.

Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) was shocked when she saw Duncan’s supposedly dead wife May (Helene Maksoud) in the hospital after the conman had claimed that May had died of a stroke a year ago.

He had even convinced their daughter her mum had passed away, despite May secretly hiding in Costa Rica.

But when Sophie spotted May very much alive and well, she pretended to be Duncan’s neighbour and claimed he had been transferred to another hospital to trick her into getting into a car with her.

Corrie viewers quickly took to Twitter to question how May had managed to get from South America to Manchester in less than a day.

One fan tweeted: “If the flight from Costa Rica is 13 hours, how the heck did his wife, firstly, hear about the accident (as nobody thinks she’s alive to tell her) and secondly took a flight and travel so quickly? Tardis?”

While another joked: “May arrived in Weatherfield awfully quick are we sure she was in Costa Rica and not just the Costa around the corner? #corrie”

Duncan’s wife may have heard about the accident because she was on the phone to him when it happened, but it still doesn’t explain how she managed to book the flights so fast.

Fans were also baffled at how May managed to escape Sophie so quickly, despite being on crutches, when she briefly stopped the car on the cobbles to talk to Tim on the phone.

One fan wrote: “Don’t just stand there Sophie, go after her”.

While another jokingly added: “How on earth has Sophie Webster lost a woman when Weatherfield is made up of only four streets? Idiotic!”

Luckily Gina Sneddon (Connie Hyde) spotted May and appealed to her to do the right thing for her daughter if not Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor). May finally had a change of heart and persuaded Duncan to come clean, meaning Sally’s ordeal was finally over.
