Viewers have seen how Carla has struggled to cope with the guilt she is feeling, but there’s a bigger danger lurking for her.

According to The Sun, upcoming scenes will see a manic Carla reveal to Roy Cropper that she has stopped taking her medication.

An insider told the newspaper: “After her kidney transplant from Aidan, they were the things keeping her healthy and not taking them could cause her kidneys to shut down, or she could even die.

“[Roy is] going to be terrified she could end up needing another transplant if she doesn’t get back on her medication.”

The source added: “It’s going to be really tough to watch but it gives both actors a chance to really show what they’re capable of.”

Filming pictures have shown how Carla will disappear and end up living in a squat as her breakdown takes hold.

Corrie boss Iain Macleod has previously said how Carla will become paranoid about everything that is happening to her and it will see a special episode devoted to her crisis.

He said: “Carla feels correctly that everybody is out to get her and that spirals off into a slightly delusional sense that everybody [is out to get her].

“It’s a standalone episode that will be mental health focused and Carla focused.

“It will also be the reveal to the audience of who was behind the factory roof collapsing.

“It’s a really nice fusion of important, serious drama about mental health.”
