Bethany Platt’s past tormentor Kayla Clifton hints at Coronation Street return

Will they be back for revenge?

| Updated:

Just as Bethany Platt’s troubles seem to be behind her, a tormentor from her near-past could resurface.

Following the trauma of being abused by Nathan and cop Neil, the teen faced more angst when the daughter of the latter targeted her.

The girls called an uneasy truce as Kayla discovered the awful truth about her dad, before she disappeared… but she could be back.

Actress Mollie Winnard has teased a return, telling Metro.co.uk: “I’d never say never. I loved playing Kayla, I really feel there is more I could explore with her.

“I got quite attached to her. I ended up really, really liking her.”

The last we saw of Kayla she confronted her rapist father while he was in hospital and apologised to Bethany and Craig for the heartache she’d put them through.

During her brief spell in Weatherfield, she had pretended to be interested in Craig romantically and took his virginity.

Some viewers have speculated that she might return pregnant – or with the young cop’s baby.

Mollie, who won Best Bad Girl at this week’s Inside Soap Awards, thinks that her character could be redeemed too – she was acting out to protect her father who she believed had been wronged, after all.

“I’d like for her to maybe come back good for at least a little while. How long it would last? I don’t know,” she added to Metro.co.uk.
