BREAKING: Judge passes sentence on Coronation Street’s Bruno Langley

The case has been heard today

Coronation Street actor Bruno Langley has been sentenced after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault.

After the court heard the evidence this morning, the district judge decided to pass sentence in the Magistrates’ Court rather than send it to the Crown Court.

The actor has avoided prison and has been given a 12-month community order, reports The Manchester Evening News.

He must also sign the sex offenders’ register for five years and pay compensation to his victims of £250 each.

He was also given 40 days of rehabilitation activity as part of the order and was made the subject of a 12-week electronically monitored curfew.

The judge also described Langley’s conduct as “disgraceful, indeed degrading.”

Bruno arrived at the Manchester Magistrates’ Court this morning and admitted to touching two different women without their consent at Band on the Wall nightclub on October 1.

After confirming his name, date of birth and nationality, he entered his guilty plea.

At the time of his arrest, Greater Manchester Police said they’d received a report from a woman in her 30s who had been sexually assaulted.

Then a second woman, in her 20s, came forward and more charges were brought.

Bruno left the soap after the allegations were made and in a statement that was released before he was charged, he said:

“Sadly, I will no longer be working on Coronation Street. Acting on the show has been the fulfilment of a personal dream.

“Playing the role of Todd Grimshaw since I was 17 years old has been a huge part of my life, and an absolute honour.

“I would like to thank all of my friends who work on the show for their love, friendship and support during this extremely difficult period.”

It has since been revealed that his final scenes will air on Christmas Eve.

Many are speculating he will become evil Pat Phelan’s next victim as he stumbles across some things that could incriminate his stepdad.

Bruno joined the soap as Todd Grimshaw in 2001 and was the first openly gay character on the street, after sharing a kiss with his then-girlfriend, Sarah Platt’s brother, Nick Tilsley.

He’s currently in a relationship with vicar Billy, and last night discovered that Billy killed someone in a car crash years ago.
