Bored Coronation Street viewers demand Pat Phelan be brought back from the dead

They've had enough of the current storylines

Coronation Street fans have demanded the soap bring back killer Pat Phelan as one accused the writers of “grasping at straws” for storylines since the villain’s departure.

During his time on the cobbles the baldy builder raped Anna Windass, conned half the Street out of their life savings, was responsible for the death of Michael Rodwell, and held Andy Carver hostage in a basement before forcing Andy to kill Vinny Ashford and then murdering Andy himself.

He then went on to kill Luke Britton, and shoot Nicola Rubenstein and Michelle Connor.

Phelan was then stabbed by Anna Windass and he died from his injuries, ending his reign of terror.

But despite criticism at the time the soap was getting too dark, it seems his departure from Weatherfield has been even less popular.

With the news his dodgy building skills are set to contribute to the factory roof collapse, making him responsible for another Corrie death, fans are calling for his return.

Someone else added that all the villains on the Street since him aren’t anywhere near as terrifying.

There are those who are realistic about the fact we saw Phelan in the body bag very definitely dead.

They have come up with another theory – Pat Phelan’s identical twin brother could arrive and pick up where his sadistic sibling left off.

And there was another who felt he should pop up in another soap instead of returning from the dead.

Corrie boss Iain MacLeod told last week how Phelan will be at the centre of a new whodunnit as part of a major new storyline.

Speaking to press at a recent event, Iain revealed how Underworld will collapse as a brand new arch villain makes themselves known on the cobbles.

But while the new villain, who is familiar to viewers, will be to blame for a lot of misfortune coming to Weatherfield the factory’s dramatic roof collapse will hark back to Phelan.

Iain said: “The factory collapse cleverly builds on a storyline from about a year ago when Phelan worked on the roof.

“The origins are there already. This story feels right and we can reference back.”

Viewers know how Adam Barlow arranged for the factory to be looted, including its roof stripped, as part of his revenge plan for the Connors for stealing his share of the business.

When the late Aidan Connor finally got the business back on its feet, he paid Pat Phelan to rebuild the roof, but that will prove a costly mistake.
