Coronation Street star Beverley Callard introduces new family member after surgery

Beverley was left unable to walk after her surgery

Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has introduced her newest family member following her hip surgery.

The actress, who has played Liz McDonald on the cobbles for 30 years, revealed she has a new puppy on Twitter and Instagram.

On Twitter, she shared an adorable snap of her new pooch, who was gifted to her by her husband.

Alongside the picture she tweeted: “Obviously, not one of @jonmmac best ideas, he got me a surprise, Arthur! Timing wasn’t great, he’s fab though and growing rapidly.”

Her co-star Elle Mulvaney, who plays Liz’s granddaughter Amy Barlow, commented: “Omg he is the cutest.”

Her fans also commented on how adorable Arthur is.

What happened to Beverley Callard? Liz McDonald’s cancelled Coronation Street exit

Last year it was revealed Beverley would be leaving Corrie in 2020.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, filming was halted and many changes had to be made.

It was reported last month that Beverley’s time on the cobbles was over, despite no exit scenes airing.

But the actress later revealed she underwent a hip operation back in March and was meant to be back on set of the ITV soap within days.

However it all went by the wayside when she was left in agonising pain and needing a full hip replacement. And she was left fearing she wouldn’t walk again.

But yesterday (Sunday, September 20) Beverley revealed she is off her crutches.

Coronation Street: Liz McDonald exit

Although Liz’s exit scenes were unable to be filmed this year, Beverley said she will go back to Coronation Street next year to film her exit.

Speaking on Loose Women earlier this month she said: “Well the biggest thing was we went to shoot Liz’s exit – I’m not going to tell you what it was – but after lockdown I couldn’t go back.

“They did offer me a wheelchair and I said, ‘Absolutely not! A wheelchair and stiletto shoes, no no no.’

“But I will go back maybe at the beginning of next year, so they will see a bit more of Liz. It’s going to be very dramatic, I believe.”
