Coronation Street shares first pic of Norris Cole’s return to screens

The cobbles legend has been recovering from a heart attack

Coronation Street has revealed Malcolm Hebden – aka Norris Cole – is back filming on set.

They shared a picture to their Twitter and Instagram feeds reading: “Norris Cole – back where he belongs.”

The show also added a welcome home note and confirmed we’ll see him on our TV screens in April.

Fans were thrilled to see the image and excited that he’s back.

“YAY!!! MISSED HIM!!!! Hope he’s in terrific health!!!” said one.

Another added: “Ah, what fantastic news! Glad to see him back and looking healthy!” while a third said: “Fantastic ❤️❤️ Really miss him and Mary together.”

“Awww Finally! It’s great to see Norris will be back on @itvcorrie I really missed him. Welcome back Norris 😀😊 #Corrie #NorrisCole,” wrote someone else.

A fifth person predicted upcoming scenes between him and Evelyn, who Norris has yet to meet, but has a tongue as quick as his. “How lovely. Missed Norris so much. He and Evelyn will be brilliant together!!”

Norris was last seen in screen in 2017 and has since been recuperating following a silent heart attack.

He previously revealed to the Blackpool Gazette that he had a ground-breaking operation in order to save his life.

The attack came without any of the usual heart attack warning signs and effectively tore his heart, causing a hole in the left ventricle.

“Most of December I was in an induced coma,” he told the publication. “Fortunately I didn’t realise how bad it was; I was dying.

“The cardiac team, headed by Mr Zacharias, simply saved my life.”

On-screen Norris’s absence has been explained by a trip to Peru to see Emily Bishop.

His on-screen wife, Patti Clare (Mary Cole) revealed on This Morning in 2018 that he would be back.

“Norris is in Peru with Emily at the moment. Mary speaks to him often on the phone.

“There’s a faint whisper he might be back, maybe next year.”
