Coronation Street fans overjoyed evil Rick Neelan is back

He hasn't been seen in seven years but time has not mellowed him

Coronation Street viewers are thrilled classic villain Rick Neelan has returned.

The loan shark was last seen kidnapping Rita Tanner on her wedding day in 2012 to force Tina McIntyre to hand over the drugs she had stolen from him.

She refused and called his bluff when Rick threatened to throw Rita off the docks into the water, but luckily for the iconic character, the police arrived.

It was later revealed Rick had been imprisoned for a minimum of eight years but it seems he has been granted an early release.

Last night he arrived back on the cobbles demanding the £15,000 Gary Windass loaned from him back.

The menacing thug wasted no time in getting up to his old tricks and he tracked Gary down to the builders’ yard and issued a chilling threat to him.

Holding him over the balcony, he raged: “You’ve missed the last three payments which means there’s a late payment fine, which makes it £20,000 in total due in full as of now.

“You signed the contract, you should have read the small print.

“You’d be amazed the lengths people will go to for the ones they love, you know the people they don’t want to be hurt.”

Gary realised the implications of what Rick was threatening and agreed to pay the extra money due on his dodgy loan.

But while Gary suffered, viewers were so happy to see the classic villain back in action on the cobbles.
