Fans of Coronation Street have demanded that Anna Windass return to Weatherfield to “wipe the smile off Gary’s face”.
Gary Windass has become a horror show since his mum Anna was last seen on the cobbles, so is now the time to bring her back to dole out him some tough love?

Viewers know that Anna was the one to finally get rid of supervillain Pat Phelan in dramatic scenes that aired last year, when she plunged a knife into his chest in the Bistro kitchen.
A dying Pat told Anna he’d die happy in the knowledge that she’d be spending the rest of her life in prison for murder, before he deliberately pulled the knife out causing himself to bleed to death.
But Anna shrugged his words off, saying it would be “worth every minute” to know he wasn’t alive to cause anymore death and misery.
“People like you don’t get to win,” Anna snarled at him. “And when I get out of here, I’m going to go back out there and meet my grandson. And we’re going to forget that you ever existed.”

However, when the police arrived, Anna told them she stabbed him in self-defence as he was about to shoot Michelle, and the bride agreed.
Anna later told the Corrie residents, including son Gary, that she’d be living in Durham as Weatherfield held too many memories for her now.
Her adopted daughter Faye decided to join her, leaving Seb Franklin heartbroken and brother Gary sad.
Since then, however, Anna’s son Gary has replaced Pat in the murderous stakes, and has killed both Rana Habeeb and Rick Neelan.
And viewers think Anna, played by Debbie Rush, needs to come back to sort out her son!

Actress Debbie was most recently seen in Sky One’s Brassic opposite fellow former Corrie star Michelle Keegan. Debbie played Daffne Bishop.
