Coronation Street fans ‘can’t wait’ until Michelle Connor leaves Weatherfield.
Actress Kym Marsh announced she was quitting the show earlier this week and the news delighted fans of the soap who dislike her character Michelle.
Kym said in a statement: “When I was lucky enough to be offered four episodes I could never in my wildest dreams have thought I’d be here 13 years later.
“It’s been an incredibly difficult decision but it feels like the right time for me to explore some other roles.
“But this isn’t the last you’ve heard of Michelle Connor, she’ll be back! I can’t wait to see what the writers have in store for the future.”

Fans of Corrie celebrated her upcoming exit with one saying: “This news is quite good. She became annoying/silly and a downright bully from about 2013 onwards.
“I wish Kym Marsh well in her future career, but tbh I won’t miss Michelle all that much.”
A second said on Digital Spy: “I’ve never been so happy!!!! Michelle is a horrendous character and Kym is a poor actress, I won’t miss her one bit.”
A third said: “I’m absolutely delighted, but I do think she’ll do an Alison King and be back in a year or so.”
Another added: “This will be one of those moments in history when you will remember where you were the day you heard Kym Marsh is quitting Corrie.”
However, others said they will miss her on the cobbles, and hope that she will return.
One said: “I’ll miss her, hopefully it is just a break. And to be fair she has been very much overused in the past couple of years so a good long break will be good for the character.”

Another said: “I will miss her, Kym Marsh is a great actress and while Michelle can be selfish at times I think she is still one of the show’s better characters and I honestly prefer her to her BFF Carla.
“I also wonder what this will mean for Robert, Ryan and Ali, without her around they will have little to do.”
A third added: “I’ll miss her, but it’s probably right for her to go. I just hope they don’t kill her off, so that she can return at some point.”
