Coronation Street announces Todd Grimshaw’s return as Bruno Langley is replaced

Todd has been on the run since 2017

Coronation Street has revealed Todd Grimshaw will be returning played by a new actor, Gareth Pierce.

Todd will return to screens in the autumn time but seeds of his return will be sown as soon as next week (August 19) when a letter arrives in the post from the former solicitor asking for money.

Currently Eileen is in Thailand visiting her oldest son Jason. But the letter will be opened by Sean and Mary who break the news to Todd’s former partner, Billy Mayhew.

The three then embark on a manhunt to try and track down Todd, who fled the cobbles in 2017.

Coronation Street: What happened to Todd Grimshaw?

In 2017, Todd attempted to run away with Billy’s goddaughter Summer. Todd had become close with Summer, and her grandmother Geraldine was attempting to gain custody of the young girl.

When they were tracked down by police, Todd ended up assaulting a police officer and ran off on his own leaving mum Eileen, Billy and Summer behind.

But where has Todd been hiding all this time? Why does he need the cash and why doesn’t he want to be found?

The letter starts months of intrigue and mystery. However Todd will finally break his cover much to the relief of Eileen and his friends.

Coronation Street: Who is Gareth Pierce?

Welsh-born Gareth is the second actor to play Todd. The role was previously played by Bruno Langley on and off from 2001 until 2017.

Gareth has previously had roles in Sky One’s Stella playing Lenny Mack. He also played Gavin Moss in The Arches and starred in Ordinary Lies and Hinterland for the BBC.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
