After a violent altercation at Monday night's TV Choice awards, ITV terminated Asan's employment "with immediate effect".

Asan, who reportedly threatened to kill Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas, issued an apology saying: "My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.

"I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards."

Video footage from the bash on Monday night appeared to show Asan being held back as he confronted Jamie in an ugly brawl that took place at 11pm.

Sadly Asan is the latest in a long line of soap stars who have been prematurely booted off the show thanks to anti-social behaviour.

I would like to sincerely apologise for any offence I have caused.

Shila Iqbal, Emmerdale, sacked in April 2019

Emmerdale bosses were forced to sack actress Shila Iqbal after a series of historic offensive tweets were unearthed.

The 24-year-old actress, who played Manpreet's daughter Aiesha Richards, posted a series of racist tweets in 2013 when she was a student.

Shila deleted her Twitter account when news of the old messages surfaced.

An Emmerdale spokeswoman said: "As a consequence of historic social media posts Shila Iqbal has left her role as Aiesha Richards on Emmerdale.

"The programme took the decision not to renew her contract as soon as these posts were brought to the company's attention."

Apologetic Shila said after the scandal broke: "I am terribly sorry and take full responsibility for my use of such inappropriate language...

"I have paid the price and can no longer continue the job I loved the most at Emmerdale."

Following her highly-publicised dismissal, she went on to appear in the 17th series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2016, where she finished runner-up.

She later sought treatment for alcohol addiction and was invited back onto the E4 soap to reprise her popular role as Sinead O'Connor.

Bruno Langley played Todd Grimshaw in Corrie, until he had his contract terminated after he was accused, and later found guilty, of sexually assaulting two women in a night club.

He received a 12 month community order, which saw him given a curfew and an electronic tag.

A spokesman for the show said at the time: "Bruno Langley is no longer contracted to Coronation Street."

The actor, who played Todd on and off for 16 years, now works as a portrait photographer.

Marc Anwar played Sharif Nazir in Coronation Street until 2016, but was dismissed after publishing a series of seemingly racist tweets against India's actions in Kashmir.

After these tweets emerged, ITV released a statement saying: "We are deeply shocked by the entirely unacceptable, racially offensive comments made on Twitter by Marc Anwar.

"We have talked to Marc and, as a consequence of his comments, he will not be returning to Coronation Street with immediate effect."

He later apologised, explaining he'd been watching news reports on TV that piqued his anger over the situation in Kashmir.

An ITV spokesman said at the time: "Chris Fountain's contract with ITV has been terminated as a result of the unacceptable comments he made in a number of online clips."

The actor later released a statement saying: "I would like to sincerely apologise for any offence I have caused. I am deeply ashamed by the lyrics and very much regret my behaviour."
