Adam Thomas lands first major role since leaving Emmerdale

So he won't be returning to the Dales any time soon then...

Adam Thomas has good news AND bad news for his fans…

The bad news is that the former Emmerdale star WON’T be returning to the role of Adam Barton any time soon.

But the good news is that he’s swapped the Yorkshire dales for a new BBC drama set in Wales.

The 30-year-old actor has landed a job in Pitching In, a family series about “what a family will do to make the best of an unusual situation”.

Hang on, isn’t that what the Bartons do, too?!

The series is due to air next spring and will be Adam’s first big role since leaving Emmerdale earlier this year.

Creative Artists Management revealed the news on Twitter, by congratulating Adam on his new role.

They said: “We can’t wait for the new @BBC family drama #PitchingIn! Congratulations to @adamthomas21 who will be on our screens next Spring to show us what a family will do to make the best of a very unusual situation!”

Adam will star alongside EastEnders’ Larry Lamb and Gavin & Stacey’s Melanie Walters in the drama, which will be set in a caravan park on the north Welsh coast.

The dad-of-two portrayed Adam Barton for nine years, who is currently on the run for killing Emma Barton – although he didn’t, mum Moira did (but that’s another story altogether).

Before joining Emmerdale, Adam starred in Waterloo Road as Donte Charles.

In 2016, he took part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

He came third, losing out to runner-up Joel Dommett and eventual winner Scarlett Moffatt.

Emmerdale fans have recently been speculating about the return of Adam Barton, as Adam’s wife Victoria has embarked on an affair with Matty Barton.

Moira recently confessed that she killed Emma and not Adam.

Meanwhile, Adam’s real life brother and Corrie star Ryan was this month embroiled in a tragedy worse than any written by a soap writer.

He was wrongly accused of domestic abuse by former Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
