The royal family have paid tribute to the Queen and Prince Philip on their 72nd wedding anniversary.
The couple married at Westminster Abbey in London on November 20 1947.
The Queen’s grandson Prince William – and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge – were the first to offer their congratulations on the milestone.
They posted a black-and-white picture of the lovebirds on honeymoon in Hampshire, gazing at each other adoringly.

William and Kate also posted a more recent picture of the monarch, 93, and her husband, 98, laughing together.

The family’s official Instagram account also sent its congratulations to the couple.
It posted a beautiful photo of the pair on their wedding day, waving to the crowds from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

A recent picture of the Queen – looking pretty in pink – with a suited Philip was also posted.
And, although they have started their extended break, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also sent the head of their family their warmest wishes.

Meghan and Harry posted a black-and-white picture of the pair being driven through the streets in an open-topped carriage.
“On this day 72 years ago, they were married at Westminster Abbey. Many congratulations!” the couple said.

“Happy anniversary to them and a lot of happiness,” said one follower.
Another added: “Such an example of lifelong love and commitment. Incredible, inspiring and beautiful to see.”
The anniversary comes a week after the Queen’s former press secretary slammed Netflix show The Crown for suggesting the monarch had an affair.
