Twitter users blast Victoria Beckham and call her OBE a “waste”

People think the fashionista is undeserving of the award

Singer-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham was award an OBE at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, but Twitter users aren’t happy.

People have called it a “waste” and that “those things get handed out like sweets”.

The former pop star received her honour from the Duke of Cambridge in recognition of her 17-year career in the fashion industry that has seen her become one of the biggest names in the business.

Victoria, 43, took to social media to share her joy at receiving the award. “Wonderful day celebrating with my beautiful family x”, she wrote.

However, the public just couldn’t help but share their disapproval.

“How the heck did #Victoria get an #OBE? What a waste”, said one social media user.

Another said that after finding out the news, he wanted to go to bed “forever”.

Clearly bewildered by why VB was chosen, another added: “I’m confused. What has @victoriabeckham done to be awarded an OBE? Those things get handed out like sweets, madness!”

A very angry person then wrote: “So pig faced #VictoriaBeckham has bought herself an OBE……hurry up #Theresa May and drain the elitist swamp”, along with four snake emojis.

Victoria attended the palace event with her parents and husband, David Beckham, who was granted the same title 13 years ago.

It was only a few months ago that a string of leaked emails were leaked in which the former England footie captain slammed the honour system as well as those on the OBE committee.

In a statement, the mum-of-four said how “proud” she is to be British.

She also added: “If you dream big and work hard you can accomplish great things.

“I’m so happy to share this very special occasion with my parents and husband; without their love and support, none of this would be possible.”
