Meghan Markle has revealed her New Year’s resolutions

Soon-to-be duchess wants a less potty mouth and longer nails...

Meghan Markle might be set to become a real-life duchess in 2018, but she may also hoping for a couple of other things to see her through the new year.

The Suits actress revealed back in 2016 that her New Year’s resolutions are always the same every year, reports the Mirror.

And they are refreshingly basic: to stop swearing and quit biting her nails.

Meghan wrote on her now-defunct, candid personal blog that in the coming year she planned to: “Stop biting my nails. Stop swearing. Re-learn French.”

She then admitted that she made these exact same resolutions every year –  suggesting that perhaps when it comes to chewing her nails and the odd cuss, she just can’t help herself.

“These make my New Year’s resolution list nearly (AKA actually every) single year,” she said.

Let’s hope the 36-year-old stayed off the sherry when she spent Christmas with the royals for the first time this year as she went on to blame a cheeky tipple – along with stressful work commitments – for her potty mouth.

“The swearing comes in lulls triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple drinks,” she wrote, adding that the nail chewing happens when she’s feeling a bit stressed.

“And when it comes to the biting of the nails – well, it still happens with a turbulent flight or a stressful day. It’s unladylike. But then again, so is the swearing. Dammit.”

Probably realising that chewed nails are nothing that a mani can’t fix – Meghan had a realistic, jolly approach to possibly failing to keep her resolutions once again.

“My nails will be fine, and if I toss out a four letter word once in a blue moon, well frankly I think it adds character,” she admitted.

It looks like Meghan’s ability to make New Year resolutions could have real potential as in 2016 she also vowed to keep her “standards high” and leave “room for magic”.

She wrote: “For this new year, the only thing I aim to do is to approach life playfully. To laugh and enjoy, to keep my standards high but my level of self-acceptance higher.

“My New Year’s resolution is to leave room for magic. To let the magic know that there is an open door policy with me in 2016 and that it is always welcome to join the party.”

Considering that her stardom has gone stellar in the past couple of years, and Meghan is now set to marry a Prince on Saturday May 19 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, it looks like magic marched right through that door!
