She turned 38 on August 4

The Duchess of Sussex reportedly had a low-key birthday this year.

Meghan turned 38 on Sunday (August 4) and it’s been said she celebrated with her husband Prince Harry and their baby son Archie at their home, Frogmore Cottage.

It seems the royal shunned any big celebration after backlash from her expensive baby shower in New York earlier this year.

According to The Sun, a source claimed: “Frogmore Cottage will host a celebration for Meghan’s birthday.

“The Clooney clan will be in Villa Oleandra on Lake Como and the Sussexes will not want to be seen enjoying more of their lavish hospitality after the PR disaster backlash post the US baby shower.”

Meghan faced criticism earlier this year after it was reported £300,000 was spent on her baby shower.

The former actress apparently had a special gathering of 15 friends at The Mark Hotel in New York’s Upper East Side for her celebration.

Guests reportedly enjoyed an afternoon tea and decorations and flowers were seen being delivered to the hotel.

Meghan reportedly stayed two nights at the plush accommodation, where penthouse suites cost up to £60,000 a night.

The Duchess later had dinner at Manhattan’s Ralph Lauren Polo bar with stars including Serena Williams, with a bill totalling around £350, according to Mail Online.

It was reported that Meghan flew back to the UK via a private jet that cost £125k, which was paid for by her pal Amal Clooney.

Meanwhile, at the weekend, Harry paid tribute to his wife Meghan on her birthday.
